On day two of Mexico Summit, Mexican president thanks Biden
The president of Mexico, Andrés Manuel López Obrador, congratulated President Joe Biden on Tuesday at Mexico Summit for being the first president in a long time to refrain from erecting “even one metre” of a wall along the border between the United States and Mexico.
His remarks came at the conclusion of a two-day summit of North American leaders,
which had been preceded by a commitment by Mexico to accept the return of illegal immigrants from countries including Venezuela, Nicaragua, Haiti, and Cuba. In return, the US committed to open a new legal route for up to 30,000 citizens of those nations each month who have sponsors and clear background checks.
However, those and other adjustments made by Biden prior to the conference
were condemned by both those who supported and opposed immigration as being too close to the extreme stance of the late President Donald Trump. At a joint press conference with López Obrador and Justin Trudeau, Biden declared that “both extremes are wrong.”
It's a fundamental middle proposition, he continued.

- Following Biden's one-on-one meeting with Trudeau on Tuesday morning and his meeting with López Obrador on Monday, the three leaders got together on Tuesday.

Collaborating against labour and sex trafficking. And promoting racial justice and equity in public policies.
- The North American Leaders Summit is in its tenth year. The final one was hosted by Biden in Washington, D.C., in November 2021.
