Many travellers' toolkits already contain Google Flights as a mainstay. The tech juggernaut revealed several upgrades on Monday to further improve the usability of some of its functions.

The largest update to Google Flights is the availability of more detailed price prediction and tracking information, which can give customers greater assurance that they are receiving a fair deal. Other changes were made, and Google offered further guidance on planning vacations as autumn weather approaches.

More accurate pricing predictions

On routes with enough data, Google Flights will now also indicate when is likely the ideal time to buy if you aren't already seeing a good deal. Google Flights has always offered advice on whether the price for the itinerary you're looking to book is a good value generally.

Because you are now in the golden spot for booking similar vacations, these insights may indicate that the best time to do so is two months prior to travel. Or you can find out that costs typically fall closer to takeoff and decide to wait before booking', according to a Google statement. “In either case, you can make that choice with more assurance.”

For instance, a search for tickets between New York and Paris in December reveals that the best time to book is now through September 5.

Google Flights price monitoring and assurances

Google Flights still enables you to turn on price tracking for particular itineraries, including flights on particular days as well as a “any dates” option if your schedule is flexible. This is in addition to the upgraded price estimates.
