The Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade’s main attractions were high-flying balloons
The nearly century-old yearly custom filled the streets as a flood of enormous inflatables and floats traveled more than 40 blocks from Central Park to Herald Square.
In mostly sunny skies with a light breeze, kids perched atop metal barricades and hung from scaffolding to observe the balloons.
Numerous onlookers lined the streets of New York on Thursday as the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade
I love blue. The metal rail was being balanced by Divyam Kumar, 6, and his brother Aanu Aryan, 4, as their father shouted, “There’s Blue!”
The young child was referring to the lead character in the animated series “Blue’s Clues,” who should not be confused with the world-famous Australian cattle pup Bluey, who was making her Thanksgiving Day Parade

Bluey’s balloon was the size of seven taxi cabs and stood as tall as a four-story building.
16 enormous balloons, 28 floats, 40 novelty and heritage inflatables, 12 marching bands, 10 performing groups, 700 clowns, and one Santa Claus made up this year’s Thanksgiving Day Parade.
Singer Paula Abdul, making her first parade appearance, boy band Big Time Rush, indie pop band Fitz and the Tantrums, “Blue’s Clues & the procession of characters included host Josh Dela Cruz, singer Gloria Estefan, gospel performer Kirk Franklin, actor Mario Lopez, reggae artist Ziggy Marley, and Miss America 2022 Emma Broyles.
The performer’s Joss Stone, Jordin Sparks, and Betty Who as well as Adam Devine, Sarah Hyland, and Flula Borg from Peacock’s “Pitch Perfect: Bumper in Berlin” will take part in the festivities. The Roots and Jimmy Fallon will be riding a float honoring Central Park.
Like he did the year before, President Biden and Jill Biden attended the parade. The first responders, including police officers, firefighters, and first responders, were thanked by Vice President Biden.
They expressed their gratitude to the troops, and Biden promised to get in touch with some of them today.
When asked about their plans for the day on Nantucket, the Bidens said that they would spend time with family and thank local first responders.
